About UsCymbalholic.com™ was created in 2001 by Chad and Patrice Anderson in Mississippi. A brief history of the formation of Cymbalholic.com™: In 1998, after buying his first old K. Zildjian Istanbul hi-hat cymbals through eBay, Chad's search for knowledge about these and other cymbals was set into motion. Through MANY cymbal purchases online via eBay and elsewhere, Chad managed to make connections with many other cymbal fanatics. It was through these early cymbal exchanges online where Chad first came into contact with Bill Hartrick. It was not long until many email conversations about cymbals between Bill and Chad transpired. The emails soon turned into phone calls from Bill wherein Bill would play various cymbals from his collection so that Chad could hear the "latest find." These phone calls became expensive the more either one would acquire new cymbals... ...until one day, Bill Hartrick grabbed his digital camera and began taking digital snapshots of his cymbals, their trademark stamps and other notable characteristics. At that time, he even managed to create sound clips of some of these extraordinary cymbals, and would send the mass media blitz to Chad via email (with a thorough written description of the cymbal). These descriptive emails soon became known as "the cymbal of the week." Bill continued to send many photos and sound clips of his growing cymbal collection. From this, Chad and Bill discussed the idea of having these bits of information available online for others to view... ...thus, using the web space and skills provided by Patrice and Chad Anderson, and the extremely valuable ideas and input from Bill Hartrick (and now, so many other Cymbalholics out there), CYMBALHOLIC.COM™ was officially launched online June 1, 2001. |
